This experiment launched in February 2024. Although I don't have data to share, early feedback suggests people are enjoying the changes.

Twitter Reactions

Once a raid is initiated, a 10-second countdown begins, giving viewers the option to join. The raid opens a new browser window, allowing the creator to engage with and experience the raid in real time.

Start Raid

Creators can preview individual streams before raiding by quickly scanning stream information and, as requested, viewing a live chat preview. This helps them determine in real-time whether the channel aligns with their preferences for a raid.

Stream Preview

The option to see a list view allows space to display more information without overcrowding the smaller preview cards. This design is future-proof as it can be updated with more information over time.

List & Grid View

Creators can receive up to 100 live stream results, including channels they follow, have recently raided, have been raided by, and channels recommended by Twitch.

UXR Findings

Consolidating relevant information onto a single page provides users with a quick overview of each channel.

Idea 03

Organizing streams by tags makes it easier to discover relevant content.

Idea 02

Opening a separate window allows them to navigate new channels without losing sight of their stream.

Mirroring Twitch’s Browse and Channel patterns, this approach is more intuitive for creators.

Idea 01

User Testing

✅ Create a tool where creators can easily discover new channels to raid.

✅ Surface relevant channel information to help creators make confident decisions live while streaming.

Goals

The existing browser tools prioritized viewer experiences, making it hard for creators to explore new channels outside their immediate circles. As a result, they often raided familiar creators, limiting their chances for community growth.
